Cooking with Intention

By Alyssa Hossler

At a potluck, each person comes to the table with something to offer. A dish with a piece of their soul as the secret ingredient. Intention is everything when preparing food. Love and patience are what make the yummiest additives!

Food takes on the intention it is prepared with. There was a study conducted in 1994 by Dr. Masaru Emoto exploring the idea that words and projected intention affect the properties of water. Water, as we well know, makes up upwards of 60% of our bodies and the food we eat. Since water is so impressionable to projected emotion, as shown in Dr. Emoto’s studies, our intention toward food preparation can physically alter the energy of the dish. If our food is made with patience and love instead of haste and stress, the end product will be much more nourishing to the minds, bodies, and souls who consume it. At More Pleaze, our chefs take this belief to heart and craft food with nothing but loving intention to ensure the highest vibrational quality a meal can provide. With that said…

HERE ARE 4 HELPFUL TIPS FROM OUR KITCHEN TO YOURS
FOR PREPARING FOOD WITH MINDFUL INTENTION:

1. CLEANSE THE SPACE

I love to burn sage or palo santo to clear a kitchen before I start cooking. It removes stale energy and gives me time to set an intention to create my food with ALL THE LOVE.

2. TIME MANAGEMENT

Nothing induces stress more than being in a rush. Make sure you gift yourself plenty of time to prepare the food so you can focus on mindful preparation instead of a deadline.

"We are what we eat &
we are what our food eats."

3. QUALITY INGREDIENTS

We are what we eat and we are what our food eats. If we are eating plant foods, what kind of soil was being used to grow it? Fertilizers? Pesticides? More Pleaze focuses on utilizing organic food to create meals with the highest vibration possible. Our goal is to nourish the bodies we feed and empower people to reach their full potential.

4. BLESSING THE MEAL

Taking time to bless the meal with the people who are about to enjoy it is the seal of quality, the cherry on the cake. It puts everyone in the mindset of love and appreciation for what the Earth has provided. A blessing can be a simple intentional group “Om” of gratitude, or a statement saying ‘Thank you Mother Earth for this beautiful bounty! May it nourish our bodies and souls!’. A classic prayer works as well. In the end, it is about expressing gratitude for what nature provides and having and appreciation for what we put in our bodies.

When it comes to creating intention, we invoke the 4 elements: Cleansing the space with fire, managing the time with air, sourcing quality ingredients from Earth, and blessing the meal in flowing, loving unison like water. Go forth and create your kitchen magic, with meals infused with light and love.

Namaste.
