what is a yoga chef?
Yoga literally means “to yoke” – meaning to combine mind, body, spirit, and practice. Just as we combine these qualities on the mat, so can we in the kitchen. As yoga retreats become more prolific, there is a growing need for grounded conscious chefs to cook for retreats, individuals, and groups. We are here to support this movement!
Rates vary depending on food style, chef’s experience, logistics, and guest count, and while all chefs set their own rates, we adhere to industry standards. Newer chefs will have lower rates so they can gain experience, and seasoned chefs will charge professional rates. Expect to pay private chef rates for under 10 guests, and a per person set cost for retreats over ten guests. Please let us know what your ideal budget and desired menu are when you contact us so we can pair you with a chef within your range. There is never any charge for connection.
We work with a community of yoga chefs with unique training, philosophies, and life experiences; and so each will have unique menus. All chefs have vegan and plant-based menus, but some may also offer Ayurvedic, raw vegan, paleo, pescatarian, farm-to-table (plant-based and/or meat and poultry), along with other styles.

where we are
words from the owner
As a practicing yoga teacher myself, I understand on many levels the importance of having an on-site chef who understands holistic health and yoga philosophy.
The vast majority of our chefs are avid yogis, and have ongoing personal spiritual practices, so we understand the importance of the food staying in alignment with all other aspects of the experience.
Our chefs work with yoga teachers and retreat leaders to create custom menus that support their physical and spiritual intentions.
I have been told over and over by retreat leaders and guests, that having conscious food, and a mindful presence in the kitchen, is integral for any successful retreat. Food inspires conversation, community, and synergy in any intentional setting.
It is a true honor to be invited into experiences like these to provide something as as vital as nurturing food so leaders can focus on their guests and attendees can focus on what is very important: healing.

We work with a community of yoga chefs in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas who have unique training, philosophies, and life experiences; as a result, each will have unique menus. Some chefs are more comfortable with casual family-oriented work, some prefer high-end work, and some prefer corporate work.

I hired Lindsey as my chef for a weekend yoga retreat in Point Reyes, CA. Lindsey is super loving in everything she does and it showed up as thoughtfully crafted, delicious and healthy food. It also showed up as her ability to connect to each participant on the retreat with warm, friendly vibes and always a good hug! Lindsey wasn’t just the chef on our retreat, she was an integral part to everyone feeling cared for! Lindsey was professional, creative and intentional and I can’t wait to hire her again for my next retreat!

I was ever so fortunate to attend a retreat in which all meals were prepared by Lindsey. This was a little challenging for me; to let go of all control of cooking. I have some food allergies. I always tend to prepare my own meals. Well, not only was I pleasantly surprised by how delicious all the food was but I was amazed by Lindsey’s passion for cooking. She was extremely mindful to my restrictions and prepared alternative options for me. Her passion for cooking is evident in her food. I would highly recommend Lindsey to anyone, Her food is all organic, fresh and delicious.

Kyra, thank you not only for making us such incredible food, but for being so delightful, fun, friendly, and considerate! I’m amazed how you were able to make fantastic tasting, healthy, nourishing meals for us. I really appreciate how you always went the extra mile, whether it was supplementing for a food allergy I have, preparing my packed lunch for me when I was forgetful, or explaining to us what went into your creations and how they were made. Anyone who gets the chance to eat your food is in for a treat!
Kyra created fabulous, fresh, wholesome meals inspired by the bounty of the land. Her joy of preparing food for others, as well as her enthusiasm for sharing her secrets, turned each meal into a celebration. I returned home and began preparing new creations to share with loved ones- starting with my first attempt at chocolate avocado mousse. The mousse exemplifies what is great about Kyra’s creations – simple ingredients plus loving preparation resulting in dishes that are both artistic and satisfying. Kyra will definitely be my top choice as resident chef!
