what is a doula chef?
Doulas offer diverse services including, birth planning, onsite labor support, post-labor companionship, and more. Doulas offer unwavering support during birth and can help a new parent in a variety of ways.
The concept of “doula chef” is not radical, but it is a niche practice. While in ancient cultures, a new parent would have a community to offer support, nourishment, and knowledge, in this day and age many parents are left to fend for themselves. A doula chef is someone who specific knowledges of both culinary arts and the complexities of nourishing expecting and new parents.  Many in our chef community are parents themselves, are trained as traditional doulas, have studied nutrition, or have some innate calling to nourish parents before and after birth,
Note: We serve and support parents and families of all colors, denominations, and genders. If you have a preferred pronoun or any tender requests for communications and service, please indicate this on your form.

words from the owner
As a trained doula myself, it means a great deal to me to offer this service through More Pleaze. While all my chefs cook with love, there is special intuitive nature that pregnancy and doula chefs embody, and it brings me great joy to offer these services to parents. Many of my chefs are former doulas and birth workers, practicing yoga teachers and reiki masters, trained nutrition experts, and more. Each has their own skills to offer, and I would love to pair you with a chef who works with pregnant and postpartum women. We are also happy to help you organize a chef service for a friend – please just ask and we will do all we can to support you.
It is a true honor to be a part of such a sacred time. Thank you for considering our chefs to prepare nourishing food to welcome a new life into the world. Our intention is to make this initiation as gentle and loving as possible.
We honor our chefs to set their own rates and define their own worth. Rates vary depending on food style, chef’s experience, logistics, and length of service, and while all chefs set their own rates, we adhere to industry standards. Newer chefs will have lower rates so they can gain experience, and seasoned chefs will charge professional rates.
Onsite meal prep costs typically begin at $200/visit or delivery plus the cost of food. Some chefs will have special packages for new parents that may include discounts, delivered meals, or more. The amount of food presented depends on the agreement, the labor involved with the menu, and other factors.
Please let us know what your ideal budget and desired menu are when you contact us so we can pair you with a chef within your range. There is never any charge for connection.
sample menus
We work with a community of yoga chefs with unique training, philosophies, and life experiences; and so each will have unique menus. Some chefs are more comfortable with casual family-oriented work, and some prefer high-end five-star seated dinners.
All of our chefs work with local ingredients and farmers for nutritious and delicious menus but some may also offer Ayurvedic,  paleo, bone-broth, farm-to-table (plant-based and/or meat and poultry), along with other styles. Some chefs have additional nutrition certifications that support them in their menu design.
Please contact us directly so we can connect you with a chef, or chefs, in your area who offers the style of cuisine you are looking for. There is never any charge for connection.
